Do you think you might be autistic?
I work with adults to provide assessments that are neurodiversity affirming to answer the question, “Am I autistic?”
Many adults have struggled with differences in how they experienced the world and and interacted with others throughout their childhood and adult lives without receiving a diagnosis. This may have occurred because of misperceptions about autism that exist in our society and/or because someone hid (masked) their differences.

Great question! First of all, I don’t think it is necessary for everyone who is autistic to get an official diagnosis of autism.
Some people have self-diagnosed and doing so has provided them with things such as a community that “gets them,” a better understanding of themselves, and ways of approaching their life.
There are reasons to pursue an autism diagnosis as an adult. First, an assessment conducted by a professional who has expertise in the diagnostic process from a neurodiversity-affirming perspective may be able to help you better understand the ways in which the diagnostic features of autism do and do not align with your lived experience.
Second, an ‘official’ diagnosis may be required to receive certain types of accommodations (e.g., at school, at work), and for improving healthcare.
Third, in collaboration with a neurodiverse-affirming professional, you will be able to work together to identify your strengths and challenges and to develop strategies that build off your strengths and allow you to live the life you want to live.

I will work collaboratively with you throughout the assessment. After all, your are the best expert on you!
The first step will be a brief (about 15-min), free consultation. During this time we will talk about whether this assessment makes sense for you. We can do this in any way you want, such as by phone, over Zoom, by email, or chat. We will also figure out what time of assessment is best for you. I offer two types of assessment, which are explained below.
After the consultation, if we agree to proceed, I am going to send you some questionnaires and other paperwork to complete.
Our next meeting(s) will take place in-person or over a secure and confidential virtual meeting platform. During this time we will be talking a lot. I am going to ask questions to learn more about how get along in the world. We will talk a lot about how you prefer to communicate, what social interactions are like for you, about how you process emotions, and about sensory processing. Depending on the type of assessment you are getting (see more on this below), we might also complete additional measures.
Our last meeting together can also take place in-person and virtually. We will go over the results of the assessment together and talk about next steps for you. I will send you a report that summarizes our assessment and the recommendations and supports that we discussed within two weeks of this meeting.

There are different reasons for pursuing an autism evaluation and we will decide together which type of assessment is the best match for your needs.
Option A is a good fit for you if you are wondering if you are autistic but don’t think you will need accommodations for work or school. This will be customized for you, based on your specific needs (fee: $1,000-$1,500).
Option B is a good fit for you if you might need formal accommodations for your school or work. This will include a cognitive assessment so I can better help you understand whether you have differences in things like how quickly you process information, recall information, or handle spatial information. This information will help us better identify specific accommodations that may help you be happier and more successful at your work or school. (Fee: $2,00-$2,400).

I accept BCBS insurance however, even within these insurance companies, policies differ with regard to what is and is not covered. You can ask your insurance company if they cover CPT Codes 90791, 96136, 96137, 96130, and 96131. I can help you with this process.
If you are not using insurance, I can give you what is called a Superbill that summarizes the assessment. You can submit that to your insurance company and they may reimburse you for all or part of the costs.
There is a company called Reimbursify which will file a claim on your behalf for a small fee.
I accept checks, cash, and credit cards. We can split payments into two installments.
